yo lo califico como "excelente"
es un gran actor y su papel en Supernatural lo realiza increiblemente. Es una interpretación muy distinta de "Lucifer"...con su propio sello. Aunque se le ha visto solo en 3 epis (contando el de hoy) me encanta su personaje...además creo que si en realidad fuese así "lucifer", ya unos cuantos hubiesemos caído en sus redes, porque wooww como te envuelve con tantas palabras bonitas y con tanto sufrimiento...definitivamente Mark es un experto en personajes de este tipo.

Exclusive Interview: Mark Pellegrino (Lucifer on Supernatural), Part I

You may not know the name just yet -- though you will -- but if you're a fan of Dexter, Supernatural (TV) and/or Lost, then you know Mark Pellegrino. Pellegrino, who can boast of 100 film and television credits, played Paul, Rita's (Rita Benz) piece-of-work ex-husband on Dexter, and he's also Lucifer on Supernatural and the mysterious Jacob on Lost. He'll be back on Supernatural on Nov. 19, in the show's last episode for 2009, "Abandon All Hope," and will return to Lost when that series kicks off its sixth and final season in early 2010. PopStar recently caught up with Pellegrino for an extensive --and exclusive -- two-part interview. Look for part two tomorrow.

At this point, when people recognize you on the street, what role is it that they most associate you with?
The most feedback I get so far is from Dexter and it usually goes something like this: "Oh my God. you're Paul from Dexter right?" "Yes." "I love you man. You are such an a--hole. Do you mind signing something or taking a picture with me...?" But here's a little bit of recent irony. When I'm in Hawaii shooting for Lost I've been getting stopped for Supernatural. And when I'm in Vancouver shooting for Supernatural I've been getting stopped for Lost. Go figure.

Let's talk about Supernatural and then we'll get into Lost in the second part of our conversation. So many actors have played Lucifer/Satan over the years. How did you go about delivering a performance and creating a character that was at once familiar and scary, but fresh and original?
Well, luckily the writers have a very different take on things with respect to the dynamics of the angels. As you know, the angels in the show can be, well, a---holes. It is Lucifer who is kind and empathetic and truthful. So, play the "Prince of Lies" as the most sincere one of the bunch and you have a fresh take. But I have a feeling things are gonna change. Lucifer has a big chip on his shoulder and that can't be restrained for long.

We know that Sam (Jared Padalecki) is Lucifer's true vessel, so give us a preview of what happens in "Abandon All Hope."
The proverbial crap is gonna fly. Hell, it's the apocalypse for crying out loud. Something's gotta give. If I tell you more than that I'll have to kill you.

How much do you personally need to understand all of the crazy, complicated back story involving Lilith (Katherine Boecher) and Azazel (Fredric Lehne) and the 66 Seals, etc., in order to play what (executive producer) Eric Kripke and the writers pop into their scripts?
Well, I had to learn Enochian. Who knew that was a real language? And I have been reading the Book of Enoch as a preparation for this. But, so far, I've found that the history and backstory haven't been necessary. Lucifer's fall from grace is a well known story and the bare bones of this tale is revenge. All I really have to bring to it is a strong sense of the justice of my cause and a sense of humor.

How much more of you will we see on the show after this next episode?
Well, that all depends on the strength of my vessel. And in "Abandon All Hope," Nick, my vessel, is looking a little piqued, I have to admit. Hopefully, he can hold out for a while. I personally think Nick was angry enough to contain Lucifer for longer, but one can never tell.

Be honest, who's more evil, Lucifer from Supernatural or Paul from Dexter?
This may sound totally insane, but I don't think either of them is evil. Think about it. Lucifer was betrayed by his father and his brother for the equivalent of a dog. Mercilessly beaten down and forever cast away from those whom he adored and dammit he's pissed about it and wants a little payback. Paul does a bad thing, I'll admit, but comes back from jail a changed man. He has a dream to reunite his family, but whoa, here's this other man romancing his wife and cozying up to his kids. And that will not stand. You follow? You think I'm a freak now, don't you?

Este 19 de noviembre regresa a Supernatural en el último episodio que se transmite este año “Abandon All Hope” y regresará a Lost cuando la serie empiece su sexta y última temporada a comienzos del 2010. Hace poco PopStar tuvo una extensa y exclusiva entrevista de dos partes con Pellegrino .

Ahora que la gente te reconoce en las calles ¿Cuál es el personaje con el que más te relacionan?
El personaje que con el que más me identifican es con el que hice en Dexter y con frecuencia me dicen:”oh, dios mío ¿Tú no eres Paul de Dexter? “Así es” “Te adoro. Eres de lo peor. ¿Te importaría darme tu autógrafo y tomarte algunas fotos conmigo…?” Como vez hay un poco de ironía en todo esto. Imagínate que cuando estaba en Hawaii filmado Lost tuve que parar de hacerlo para ir a filmar Supernatural y cuando estaba en Vancouver filmando Supernatural tuve que parar para ir a filmar Lost. Es una locura.

Ahora hablemos sobre Supernatural y luego seguiremos hablando de la serie Lost en la segunda parte de la entrevista. Muchos actores han interpretado a Lucifer o al demonio a través de los años, entonces ¿Cómo es que llegaste a interpretar y crear un personaje, tan conocido y temible, de una forma tan renovada y original?
Bueno, felizmente los escritores tienen una visión muy diferente con respecto a la dinámica de los ángeles. Como sabes, en la serie los ángeles pueden ser un fastidio. Lucifer es el amable, el confiable y el empático. Así que interpreta “Prince of lies” como el más sincero del grupo y tú obtienes una dosis fresca de lo que sucede. Pero presiento que la historia va a cambiar. Lucifer tiene un dispositivo inmenso en sus hombros y eso no puede contenerse por mucho tiempo.

Sabemos que Sam (Jared Padalecki) es el verdadero elegido para que sea el “envase” de Lucifer , nos podrías dar un adelanto de lo que sucederá en el capitulo “Abandon All Hope”
Se avecina toda esa tontería proverbial. El apocalipsis esta cerca como para estar lamentándonos. Algo vendrá. Si te sigo contando más entonces tendre que matarte.

¿Según tú, qué es lo que necesitas entender sobre esta complicada y loca historia que involucra a Lilith (Katherine Boecher), Azazel (Fredric Lehne), los 66 sellos, etc; para interpretar lo que Erick Kripke (productor ejecutivo) y los guionistas escribieron en sus libretos?
Bueno tuve que aprender Enoquiano. ¿Quién sabe realmente que éste es un idioma? Y para prepararme para este papel tuve que leer el libro de Enoc. Sin embargo, recién ahora supe que la historia y su pasado no fueron necesarios. La historia acerca de que Lucifer fue desterrado de su gracia es bastante conocida y lo que es mínimamente esencial en la historia es la venganza. Todo lo que tuve que aportar a este personaje fue un poco de sentido del humor y fuertes sentimientos de justicia para hacer realidad su propósito.

¿Qué más apreciaremos de ti después de este episodio?
Bueno todo depende de la fuerza física de mi “envase”. Tengo que admitir que en el capítulo “Abandon All Hope”, Nick (“mi envase”) está un poco despechado. Felizmente puede resistir por un tiempo. Pienso que Nick estaba tan enojado que acepto ser el “envase” de Lucifer por mucho tiempo, pero uno nunca sabe.

Se sincero, ¿quién es más malvado, Lucifer de Supernatural o Paul de Dexter?
Esto puede parecer totalmente una locura pero creo que ninguno de los dos es malvado. Piénsalo. El padre y el hermano de Lucifer lo traicionaron por algo semejante a un perro. Fue castigado despiadadamente, lo botaron para siempre del cielo y lo alejaron de quienes más amaba y por desgracia está furioso al respecto y quiere un poco de venganza. Paul hace cosas malas, lo admito, pero regresa de prisión como un hombre nuevo. Tiene el deseo de reunir a su familia. Ahora tienes a un hombre que trata de conquistar a su esposa, ser cariñoso con sus hijos y eso no tiene comparación. ¿Me entiendes, verdad? Seguro piensas que estoy loco ¿no es así?
